REUndies
New to the RECup? No problem. Whether you're a menstrual cup veteran or first time user we've got you covered. We've created a step-by-step guide, your very own RECup tutorial. We cover all the how-to's from folds to insertion.
I N S E R T I O N
Wash your hands with mild soap and water. Fold your RECup using one of two recommended folds. Relax your vaginal muscles and insert cup slowly into your vaginal canal. Push cup up toward your cervix but remember your cup will sit lower than a tampon. Release fold and allow cup to pop open. Run your index finger along the base of the cup. RECup's three halos will be your guide to ensure the seal has formed.

Wash your hands with mild soap and water. Use RECup's security stem and three halos to locate the base of the cup. Pinch the base of the cup along the halos to break the seal. Slowly pull the cup down and remove from your vagina. Empty the contents into the toilet. Rinse cup with mild soap & water before re-inserting.
B E F O R E & A F T E R C A R E
Although each RECup comes individually wrapped and sealed directly from the manufacturer, we recommend you sterilize your cup for 5 minutes before initial use. During your period, be sure to rinse your cup with mild soap and water before re-inserting. Avoid anti-bacterial soap as this can strip your vagina of healthy bacteria and flora. After your cycle is complete, sterilize your cup by placing in boiling water for 5 minutes.
*Do not use vinegar, tea tree oil, scented soap, castile or peppermint soap, oil based soap, rubbing alcohol, anti bacterial soap, hand sanitizer, dish soap, hydrogen peroxide or harsh chemicals to clean your cup as this can damage the silicone and cause irritation and discomfort.
Non Applicator Tampon Use Instructions
Step 1
Wash your hands. They will be your primary tools here!
Then take a look at your REtampon. Is it totally sealed? Good. (If not, don’t use it. Get another one.)
Find the colored tear strip and pull.
Next you’re going to find the string on one end of the tampon. Grab the string and pull it tight from left to right and top to bottom. This widens the base of the tampon, creating a nice and protected pocket for your finger. Which is great because your finger plays a starring role in our next step: Inserting the tampon.

Step 2
Now, please place your index finger in the little pocket. Again this pocket will help keep your finger clean and protected as you insert the tampon.
Now with your thumb and middle finger get a firm hold on the tampon.
Next stand with one leg up (rest your foot on the toilet or bathtub) or sit on the toilet.
Step 3
Take a deep breath to relax.
With your free hand, gently hold open the skin around the vaginal opening.
Now take the REtampon, and with the full length of your index finger, ease it into your vagina, aiming toward your lower back.
When the tampon is in the right place, you won’t feel it. If you do, push it a little further in.
Leave the string hanging outside of your body.
Wash your hands, and you’re done! It’s that simple.
When it’s time to remove your tampon (remember to change your tampon at least every 8 hours), here are a few more pointers.
-
First wash your hands.
-
Then take a deep breath to relax
-
Gently but firmly tug at the string, and voilà! It’s out.
-
Just throw it away in the garbage, wash your hands, and give yourself a high five.
Is it really comfortable without an applicator?
Most applicators are designed straight even though the vagina is naturally curved. Fingertip insertion allows you to follow the natural curve of the vaginal canal and insert the tampon where it is most comfortable for your body. Once you try it a few times, you’ll be surprised at your instinctive ability to know where to place the tampon.
Isn’t it messy to insert a tampon without an applicator?
A finger pocket at the base of the tampon helps protect your fingertip. After you unwrap the REtampon, pull the string to widen the base and put your finger in the newly created indentation. As you insert the tampon, your fingertip remains covered by this pocket of cotton-like fibers. Since there's no applicator between you and the tampon, the REtampon begins to absorb as you insert it. And there's no messy applicator to deal with. You’re done.
What if I have trouble inserting the REtampon?
If you have difficulty inserting the tampon, you may want to try a lower level of absorbency than the one you’re using. REtampons are available in a range of absorbencies. Check out our Multi Pack to get all the absorbencies in one package. If you’re brand new to REtampons or non-applicator tampons, try the regular absorbency first.
How often should I change REtampons during my period?
Depending on your menstrual flow, you can wear a tampon for up to 8 hours. Your flow level will determine how often you should change your tampon and what absorbency you should use. Your flow will usually be heaviest at the beginning of your period and then lighten up so you may want to use more than one absorbency during your period. You should use a tampon with the lowest absorbency to meet your needs.
Do I need pantiliners with REtampons?
No, you generally don’t need to wear a pantiliner or pad with REtampons. If it’s your first time using them, and you’re worried, go ahead and wear a pantiliner just in case. But picking out the best absorbency for your flow along with REtampon's unique design should prevent leaks.
Do I need to lubricate the tampon?
Usually no, By using the right absorbency for your menstrual flow, this make insertion easier. For example, you may wish to use higher absorbency tampons when your menstrual flow is heavy and then switch to a lower absorbency tampon on lighter days. If you want to use a lubricant, we suggest applying a very small amount of water-soluble lubricant only on the tampon tip. Too much lubrication will interfere with the absorbency of the tampon. Do not use petroleum jelly or other lotions and creams not intended for vaginal use.
Can I insert more than one tampon?
No, wearing more than one is totally unnecessary and we do not recommend it! If you’re worried because your flow is extra heavy, you can feel confident that one super should have you covered.
REUndies Care
REUndies are easy to care for — throw ‘em in with the rest of your laundry (your other clothes will be fine!), then hang them up to dry. No need to iron, or use bleach or fabric softener.
What are REUndies?
REUndies are washable, reusable underwear designed to replace pads and tampons, or be worn with tampons and cups for extra protection.
Basically, they look and feel just like your regular undies — but better.
